I'm a sucker for productivity hacks.
I just sampled a book on "feel-good productivity" and will purchase an upcoming book on "slow productivity."
The New Year often kicks this hunger for productivity into hyperdrive (at least for a few weeks).
This year, however, I'm trying to be less focused on what's useful and make more time for what's useless — that is, those things we do for their own sake and not as a means to some other end.
Now, I'm not ready to throw away my atomic habits or pomodoro techniques. There's stuff to do. Plus we ought to use the gifts we've been given.
But the most meaningful experiences in life defy the logic of utility.
A life focused on to-do lists and scarce on savoring is a diminished life.
