Quit and Commit

Know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em

Quit and Commit

Most of us need more committing — and more quitting.

I wrote my new book because I have seen how so many of us struggle to make commitments. We fear that if we commit, we'll miss out on a better opportunity, so we wait (and wait and wait). In the process, we miss out on the peace of mind that comes from having something stable.

But we can also struggle to quit. We continue activities that do not bring us joy. We maintain acquaintances who do not bring the best out of us. We continue to pursue goals we're never going to reach.

These two problems — a lack of committing and a lack of quitting — are related. Without pruning away the mediocre activities, we fail to have the energy for wholehearted commitments.

We need to quit so that we can really commit.

Thanks to all of you who have purchased The Freedom of Missing Out. If you resonate with what I do here, I think you’ll enjoy it. If you have read it, it would mean so much if you left a review on Amazon. That makes the algorithm happy and helps others find it. Again, thanks.
