Do less to do more (and be more)
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. And all work doesn’t even make Jack a productive boy!
Of course, hard work is important. If we’re avoiding work by going down the YouTube rabbit hole and sleeping until noon, we may need to reevaluate things. We’re unlikely to succeed without working hard.
But that doesn’t mean that more work is always the answer. There is more to life than success. Plus, productivity drops significantly after a certain point.
One study found that those who worked 70 hours in a week were no more productive than those who worked 55 hours. If we’re falling asleep at our desks because we’ve been running around like a headless chicken, we’re unlikely to have creative breakthroughs.
