Good Enough Is Best
Waiting for THE BEST means waiting forever. Go with good enough — and then create the best.
Parents, teachers, and coaches told us, “Do your best.” Jesus goes further. He says in the gospels, “Be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect” (Matt 5:48).
The idea of settling for less than the best rubs many of us the wrong way.
But if we wait for perfection, we will be waiting for a very long time. Good luck finding “the one” if you have to compare every potential partner on this planet.
We get closer to “the best” by making commitments and growing in the process of trying things out, rather than sitting on our hands and waiting for perfection to show up at our doorsteps.
Sure, do your best. But after learning to accept an option that may be good, but not necessarily THE BEST. And here’s the thing: In giving your best to what is good enough, you might just create “the best.”
