Fast in Order to Feast
Simplicity leads to abundance.
We often think of Lent as a time to give things up. Since the pandemic began, we have become experts at giving things up. We have given up travel, large gatherings, visits with friends and family — even just walking out of our homes without worries.
One may not feel particularly eager to fast from more when it already feels like we have given up so much this year.
But giving up means getting much in return. We make room for God. We experience balance. We gain a sense of control, rather than being controlled by what we consume.
