Choose Growing Pains
Courage over comfort
In honor of his 70th birthday, Kevin Kelly recently posted "103 Bits of Advice I Wish I Had Known." One of the many gems was:
Your growth as a conscious being is measured by the number of uncomfortable conversations you are willing to have.
I hate initiating uncomfortable conversations, but when I do it, I never regret it.
Regrets often reveal what is important to us in the long run.
When we make decisions based on what we think will make us happy, we often gravitate to that which is comfortable, but not necessarily meaningful.
It's better to aim for those things we know we will never regret, even though they often come with growing pains.
P.S. I'm not talking about surgery to get taller! This article — with such a BuzzFeed title — has been making the rounds: He Was 5'7". After Surgery, He’ll Be 5'10".
