Assume You're the Problem

There is much work to do. We can begin at home.

Assume You're the Problem

Reading the news can be helpful. Much of the time it isn't.

Any minute spent learning about a celebrity trial is time I wish I could get back.

I don't like what the news does to me. I have given up the news for Lent several times, only to relapse during the Easter season.

One problem with the news is that we can focus on what's trivial and ephemeral and miss out on what matters. Henry David Thoreau once advised, "Read not the Times. Read the Eternities."

In trying to be aware of what's happening in the world, we can also miss what's happening in our communities.

There are so many problems in our world, but those problems —  and our influence — begin at home.
