If accepting rejection were an Olympic sport, Jia Jiang would be a contender for gold.
After a business setback, Jiang googled, "How do I overcome the fear of rejection?" That led him to discover the concept of "rejection therapy," whereby one becomes desensitized to rejection by going out each day looking for it.
Jiang took this to another level. He set out to make ridiculous requests for 100 days and overcome his fear of rejection in the process.
On the first day, he asked a stranger if he could borrow $100. On the second, he asked for a "burger refill" at a restaurant.
On the third day, his attempt to get rejected...was rejected. He requested donuts in the shape of the Olympic rings. Amazingly, Jackie from a Krispy Kreme in Austin, Texas was a true champion herself. She strategized and made this special request — and even gave these donuts to Jiang for free. You can watch the delightful video here.
Most of the athletes at the Olympic Games later this month won't win the gold medal. Most of us won't make it anywhere near the Olympics — and probably won't even get free donuts. Still, those Olympic rings symbolize how it is better when we go out of ourselves and try.
The only thing we have to lose is our fear.
Thank you for another wonderful and inspiring video!
You always make me think and always bring new aspects to old things!
